Our Five Year Plan
The strategic mission of the Police Department is to enhance the environment for residents and businesses by:
- Managing the resources of the Police Department while enhancing the quality of community life by identifying resources, creating partnerships to identify needs and resolving problems; and
- Educating the various communities of interest in the reduction of crime and enhance communications with business and community; and
- Providing 24 hour patrol services within the jurisdiction of the Village; to provide special enforcement of laws and ordinances, including code enforcement, which focuses on specific issues; maintain order; provide traffic enforcement and regulatory services; and
- Supporting the operation, goals, and management of the Police Department by providing the necessary support services to ensure effective and well-equipped personnel; and
- Conducting investigations of serious crimes that require a specific skill set different than that of a patrol officer and to follow up investigations that require travel outside the municipality and are time intensive.
Over the next five years, look for the Department to enhance Public Safety Programs for residents and businesses by performing 4 Key Objectives:
- Develop public safety / private sector partnerships to prevent crime
- Augment police presence by developing community action programs
- Increase two-way communications with residents and businesses
- Secure grants to reduce need for general fund expenditures
