Marine Safety Team
During the boating season, the Wauconda Police Department patrols Bangs Lake from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The Marine Safety Team is staffed by seasonal marine officers and helps to make sure that Bangs Lake is safe for everyones use. Marine Safety officers enforce all of Wauconda’s boating and fishing ordinances, in addition to federal, state, and county conservation regulations. Additionally they regulate boater safety, conduct safety inspections and also maintain the no-wake zone buoys.
Bangs Lake is a 309-acre natural, glacial lake that is carefully managed to allow a balance between fishing and boating. Numerous wetlands and ponds exist in the 2,762 acre watershed, with abundant forest areas that combine to endure high water quality.
A Boating Safety Class is scheduled for April 17th. at 8AM to 5PM and repeated on April 24th, and May 8th. Classes are held at Wauconda Park District Beach House – 112 Park Street. Call the Police Department at 847-526-2421 Ext 203 or CONTACT US to register!

92.108(A) Requirements: It shall be unlawful to operate, use or permit the use of any boats on Bangs Lake without first obtaining and displaying an inspection permit.
